The Wichita Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the afternoon of Friday, May 15, in the 4400 block of McNeil Avenue, according to Fire Marshal Derek Bachman.
Bachman said units were dispatched around 2 p.m. and encountered a one-story brick residence with a small active fire near the rear of the structure, at the electrical service meter. Fire crews brought the fire under control quickly, with damage confined to a limited area of the roof and attic space above the breaker and service panel, according to the department.
No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. Bachman said one resident was displaced, though assistance from the American Red Cross was not requested.
The fire damage is estimated at approximately $15,000. Investigators determined the cause to be accidental and natural in origin, with service wires that appeared to have shortened and overheated, igniting the breaker panel, attic space and electrical service panel, according to Bachman.
A total of 11 units and 26 personnel responded to the incident, the department said.
