Mark Dora has picked up a new endorsement in the Republican primary runoff for Wichita County judge.
Dawn Ferrell, who ran in the March 3 primary for the same seat, said in a statement she is endorsing Dora ahead of the May 26 runoff. Ferrell received about 24% of the primary vote, or 2,201 votes, according to the campaign.
"I entered this race because I believe Wichita County deserves experienced, principled leadership," Ferrell said in the statement. "After careful reflection on the results of the primary and the choice before runoff voters, I am confident that Mark Dora is the right choice for our county. I am pleased to endorse him and ask my supporters to join me in voting for Mark Dora in the runoff."
Dora said in his own statement that he was grateful for the endorsement.
"Dawn ran a strong campaign and earned the trust of thousands of voters across this county," Dora said. "I am grateful for her confidence and I will not take it for granted. Every voter who supported Dawn in March deserves a County Judge who will fight for this community every single day."
According to the campaign, Dora has previously been endorsed by former Wichita County Sheriff David Duke, the Wichita Falls Professional Fire Fighters Association, and the Wichita Falls Association of Realtors.
Dora faces former Wichita Falls city councilor Rick Hatcher in the runoff. Early voting runs May 18-22, and election day is May 26.
