The Wichita Falls Police Department announced the arrest of Julian Gutierrez in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store over the weekend.
According to the department, officers were dispatched Sunday, April 26, to a convenience store in the 2200 block of 9th Street. Arrest records state that the suspect entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the clerk.
What investigators say happened
Police said the suspect, later identified as Gutierrez, struck the clerk in the head with the firearm before taking approximately $1,200 and leaving on foot. Officers later responded to a suspicious-persons call that led to Gutierrez's arrest the same night, the department said. Police said he declined to speak with detectives.
Gutierrez was booked into the Wichita County Sheriff's Office on a charge of aggravated robbery, along with an outstanding warrant.
Prior record
According to the police department, Gutierrez has a prior criminal history that includes previous aggravated robbery convictions. Police said he is currently on parole for robbery and also has an active parole warrant out of Dallas.
All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
