A Wichita Falls man on probation for aggravated sexual assault of a child was arrested Monday, May 11, 2026, after prosecutors filed a motion to adjudicate his guilt, according to court records.
Tommy Lee Barnett, 24, was booked into the Wichita County Jail on Monday with a bond set at $300,000. He was released the same day after posting bond, jail records show.
The original charge was filed by the Iowa Park Police Department and stems from a March 2021 incident in which prosecutors say Barnett assaulted a child younger than 14. He was indicted by a Wichita County grand jury in 2022.
According to court records, Barnett pleaded guilty to the charge on November 27, 2023, the same day his jury trial was set to begin in the 89th District Court. He received a 10-year deferred sentence.
Prosecutors filed the motion to adjudicate guilt against Barnett on April 28, 2026, less than three years into his probation sentence. The motion alleges multiple violations, including:
- Failing to report to required community supervision appointments
- Accessing the internet while unmonitored
- Failing to complete the required Sex Abuse Treatment Program (listed as an unsuccessful discharge)
When Barnett was originally sentenced in 2023, then-89th District Court Judge Charles Barnard warned him that violating any condition of community supervision could result in the court proceeding with a trial, according to court records.
If tried and convicted of the first-degree felony offense, Barnett faces up to life in prison.
All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
