Vernon College held its graduation ceremony Friday afternoon at the Kay Yeager Coliseum in Wichita Falls, with 313 students receiving degrees or certificates, according to the college.

The community college operates campuses in Vernon and Wichita Falls, and Friday's ceremony recognized graduates from both locations.

Vernon College President Dusty Johnston told the graduates the ceremony marked a milestone, not an endpoint.

“This is not the end. I promise you this is just the beginning,” Johnston said. “You are completing a milestone, a marker in time, and what you do next, honestly, is 100% up to you.”

Johnston described the college as both an educational institution and an economic engine for the region.

Vernon College offers associate degrees and certificates in programs ranging from nursing to computer science, along with workforce training, according to information from the college.
