The Wheels of Wonder Museum in Burkburnett has delayed a planned open house after a severe thunderstorm on April 26 damaged the warehouse where the museum stores its collection of more than 120,000 die-cast cars, the Times Record News reported.

Large hail punched holes in the warehouse roof, allowing water to reach hundreds of cardboard boxes containing the packaged cars, according to the report. Museum staff described the damage as a setback for the upcoming open house, which has been postponed while the building and inventory are assessed.

The museum, located in Burkburnett in Wichita County, was among several local sites in the Texoma area to sustain damage from the late-April storm. No injuries were reported in connection with the warehouse damage.

Officials with the Wheels of Wonder Museum did not immediately announce a rescheduled open house date.
