Wichita Falls (KFDX/KJTL) — The suspect in Monday's shooting at the Brigadoon Apartments has been charged with animal cruelty and additional counts of aggravated assault, police say, after a family dog that was shot was located and examined.
According to police, Jeremy Gibson allegedly opened fire inside an apartment on April 20, 2026, wounding several residents. Among those hit was a family dog named Trinity, which was shot twice in the face, according to the dog's owner, Jessica Sinclair.
"She literally got shot right between her eyes, and it came out through the mouth," Sinclair said. "They're thinking she probably swallowed the bullet and maybe, you know, expelled it along the way of running scared."
Trinity was missing for nearly 24 hours before Sinclair said she received messages from residents who had spotted the dog. The dog was found under a tree on the median of Kell Boulevard and taken to Simmons and Harlan Vet Clinic, where Sinclair said the animal is expected to make a full recovery.
Sinclair said two human victims remain hospitalized. According to accounts shared with KFDX/KJTL, a man identified as Bryan was shot in the chest and is in critical condition, and a man identified as Rick was shot in the leg. Debra Lucas was killed in the shooting, according to the same accounts.
Gibson has been charged with animal cruelty, a third-degree felony, along with two additional counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to officials. Bonds against Gibson now total $2,775,000.
All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
