A shooting Monday at the Brigadoon apartment complex in Wichita Falls left one person dead and two others wounded, according to the Wichita Falls Police Department.

Jeremy Patrick Gibson, a resident of the complex, was booked into the Wichita County Jail on April 21 on one count of murder, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. His total bail was set at $2.25 million, jail records show.

What investigators say happened

According to the probable cause affidavit, Debra Lucas — known to neighbors as “Debbie” — was shot multiple times in the torso. A second person, Rickey Brazeal, was shot in the leg. Police say Gibson then went to a neighboring unit and shot Bryan Bolduc in the chest. Bolduc remains in critical condition.

Three other people inside that unit were not struck by gunfire but were listed as victims in the affidavit. Court documents indicate Brazeal had previously spent time with Gibson.

Gibson’s prior record

Court records show Gibson’s prior charges date to 2009 and include a felony charge for burglary of a habitation and a DWI charge.

Community response

Residents described the complex as close-knit and said they are still processing what happened. An arrest affidavit had not been posted as of publication. All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
